At the end of 2017, the news broke out that John McAfee’s Twitter and Phone was hacked.
Help-mcafee.com– When asked, John said that his Twitter account was hacked and it was used to promote several unknown Cryptocurrencies. He warned users that anyone’s account can be hacked. He said “I have no control over Twitter’s security”.
But he also posted that he supposed his mobile phone had been compromised.
Mr. McAfee claims the hacker hacked his phone through his carrier where he ported his phone number to another phone and made some tweets promoting different cryptocurrencies.
“The first indication that I had been hacked was turning on my cell phone and seeing the attached image,” he claimed.
The Cyber Security legend also said,
“I knew at that point that my phone had been compromised.
“I was on a boat at the time and could not go to my carrier (AT&T) to have the issue corrected.
“All that the hacker did was compromise my Twitter account. It could have been worse.”
“Prior to being hacked, my phone was totally disabled, you couldn’t call into it, you could not call out from it,” the researcher said in a YouTube video which was published on Dec. 30, 2017.
“So everything coming in including my text messages went to another phone number.” McAfee added.
Those tweets were later dumped and John McAfee posted on Twitter that his account and phone was hijacked.
